Mobile Financial Services

Mobile Financial Services (MFS) can be deployed through many different approaches.

We distinguish mobile banking services ("online" banking services accessible from mobile devices) from "Mobile Money" services (where banks and telecoms operators offer joint services (such as money transfer, bill payment or airtime top-up), especially to the unbanked).

Mobile Money services enable MNOs to develop new value creation opportunities by providing totally new propositions; they allow MNOs to maximise customer lifecycles by developing new acquisition levers, creating new revenues streams and, above all, improving the stickiness of their overall service.

The role of banks is much stronger in mobile banking: in these products, MNOs are either a pipe, or, in some cases, an enabler and promoter of specific bank services, often to the bank's existing customers
